Alan Johnson has lived in Bolton South East for more than 30 years, where he works in social care and as a community campaigner. He is married, with a daughter and a 12-year-old grandson who goes to a high school in the constituency.He is an active member of UNISON, and has opposed cuts in vital services. He is a member of Bolton against Racism, a leading campaigner against academy schools, and has supported the residents of Hulton against council plans to turn Green Belt land into an industrial site. He is also active in the defend-council-housing movement in Bolton.
