Ann Garrett is a performing arts lecturer and has been a Green Party member for 20 years. She is secretary of Bromley and Beckenham CND, convener of Bromley Peace Council, joint co-ordinator of Bromley Friends of the Earth, and a member of Amnesty, Greenpeace, Bromley Civic Society, and the TUC. Garrett has been involved in local campaigns to stop housing developments on Crystal Palace park, expansion of Biggin Hill airport and Kingsnorth Power Station, and to save the Beckenham Studio Arts Centre. Working for investment in a low-carbon economy, public ownership of essential services and combating climate change are key policy areas to which she is committed.
