David Ford, 48, was a Green Party councillor for Heaton 2000-2003, in the Bradford West constituency. He runs a bookshop in Bradford and is a single parent of two teenage children. He is heavily involved in the Saltaire Arts Festival, organising the literature/writers part of it while also being on its events committee. He successfully wrote a motion committing Bradford council to undertaking a review of council-house repairs when he was a councillor and was particularly active in supporting asylum seekers and refugees.
