Duncan Kerr is married and lives in Derbyshire. He worked in local government for more than 30 years, starting in environmental, housing and community services and culminating in five years as a chief executive. He then went on to establish a climate change consultancy and is now training to be a social worker. Kerr lives in an ex-mining community which has suffered economically and he has led projects to create a village cinema and re-establish the village gala. He is also leading a group seeking to establish a community-owned turbine which will not only generate power but also, he hopes, scare the pigeons off his allotment.
