Elly Stanton is 45 and has lived in Birmingham since 1992. She is a local GP and is married to a paediatrician, with whom she has three children of secondary-school age. She is the social action secretary of Birmingham progressive synagogue and a long-standing member of the Jubilee Debt Campaign. Recent interests have included Friends of the Earth faith and climate-change group, the Birmingham Jewish-Muslim Dialogue Group and Interfaith Music.
