Jayne Forbes, 54, is the current chair of the Green Party. She is a long-term Green Party activist who has been involved with campaigning for issues of social justice and the environment for 25 years. She is a lecturer in tourism, business and planning with a particular interest in poverty in developing countries. Some of the campaigns she has been involved with are fighting to stop the building of a large supermarket in the area, reducing car use by encouraging 20mph speed limits in residential areas and the Defend the Whittington Hospital campaign. She is also a former chair of the World Development Movement. Forbes has two children who are about to leave university, and she is particularly interested in the promotion of employment and opposes government cuts
