Steve Boulding, 61, is married with one son, and lived all his life in London until moving to North Shropshire three years ago. Now retired after a career spent mainly in public transport, he has been an environmental and animal welfare campaigner for more than 40 years, and a member of the Green Party since 1980. He is against the proposed Shrewsbury North West Relief Road - an environmental disaster which would do nothing to solve traffic congestion - and also the proposed waste incinerator at Battlefield, which as well as emitting huge amounts of CO2 and carcinogenic pollutants would undermine Shropshire's already inadequate commitment to recycling. He is secretary of Baschurch Station Re-Opening Campaign, and supports Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, Woodland Trust, Railfuture and RSPB among many others. His wife Sue teaches at Shrewsbury College, and is a volunteer at Baschurch Primary School. |
