Peter Doggett is 52, and was brought up in Fareham in the 1960s and 1970s. He returned to live in the town five years ago with his wife, a local primary school teacher, and two daughters, both of whom also went to school in Fareham. He worked for 20 years in London as a music journalist and magazine editor, and is the author of many books about popular culture and social history. For the past decade, he has worked as a freelance writer, journalist and auction-house consultant. He has also trained as a humanistic counsellor and life-coach.
