Tim Valentine is a professor of psychology and provides advice on eyewitness testimony to the courts. Recent cases include Barry George (wrongly convicted for the murder of Jill Dando), Abdelbaset al Megrahi (convicted for the Lockerbie bomb) and Omar Deghayes (a British resident formerly detained at Guantanamo Bay). Valentine is an experienced environmental campaigner and has given oral evidence to the House of Commons Environment Select Committee on air pollution. He is a trustee of FairPensions, a charity that promotes socially responsible investment, and an active member of the Transition Town Faversham group. He has lived in Selling since 2000.
